The Political History of the United States is a podcast telling the story of the origins and development of the political system of the United States. Beginning in Jamestown with plans to run through the end of the cold war, this podcast is going to explore the question of how the United States went from a handful of settlers in the 1600’s and managed to become a global superpower over the course of 400 years.
The show is created and produced by me, Allen Ayers. Since being a child I have been fascinated by history. This continued up through college where I earned a degree in history from UCLA, before heading off to law school. I started this podcast because I love history. Being able to understand the past and see how those events help stitch together the world we know today is something that I have always found to be exceptionally interesting and rewarding. My mission with this show is to move through and help expose all those threads that explain how the United States has developed. There is no set end date to this show, no pre-determined number of episodes. Rather my goal is that by the time we are done, whenever that may be, that people walking away from this have a better idea of how the past has created the present for the United States.
